2008 Ampersand Walk

Volunteer your feet in the 2008 Ampersand Walk!

About the event

The Ampersand Walk is a 30km endurance challenge for teams of four, taking place around Melbourne's Capital City Trail on Sunday 5th October, 2008.

Commencing at Birrarung Marr near Flinders Street Station at 8am, teams head out along Southbank, The Docklands and Moonee Ponds Creek, the former Inner Circle Rail Reserve from Royal Park and the Merri Creek and Yarra River Trails.

Teams commit to raising $400 for one of three not-for-profit organisations doing great work with young people in communities.

The Ampersand Walk is a project of the Ampersand Network, an entirely youth-run organisation committed to making volunteering more accessible to young people.

Fundraising

Each team in the Ampersand Walk commits to raising $400 for the organisation they most want to support.

Within three working days, participants should receive a receipt book by email, in which they can record donations made to their team by families, friends and colleagues. Please ensure that all donor details are provided, as we legally require an accurate record of all tax-deductible receipts issued.

Your sponsors can also make their donations online at
https://www.ourcommunity.com.au/secure/giving/donate.form?appealId=1260.

Participants have until Friday 17th October to return all donated money and receipt books to the Ampersand Walk, 537 Brunswick Street, North Fitzroy, VIC 3068.

Australian Red Cross

Asylum Seeker Resource Centre

Since opening its doors in June 2001, the ASRC has become the largest provider of aid, advocacy and health services for asylum seekers in Australia. The ASRC works directly with asylum seekers, both living in our community and detention, to provide direct aid and support as they seek refugee status in Australia, offering comfort, friendship, hope and respite.

Edmund Rice Camps

Edmund Rice Camps Vic.

All participants who attend Edmund Rice Camps are referred by welfare agencies. The camps take place every school holidays at a variety of locations. Young adult volunteers (principally aged between 17-30 years) provide care, supervision and sound role–modeling for participants on a one-to-one basis.

Student Youth Network

Oaktree Foundation
The Oaktree Foundation is an entirely youth run aid and development organisation. We are driven by young people under the age of 26. We believe that education is the key to making lasting change. Oaktree is about young people standing up to take action. In a world where we can be reduced to token responses to poverty, we believe that young people can be leaders who don’t just talk about change, but create it.
