The Lighthouse Foundation is an Australian, non-denominational,
not-for-profit organisation, dedicated to empowering young people to take responsibility for their own lives.

Lighthouse provides long-term care and support within a family/community environment to young people aged 15-22, who may otherwise be homeless.

The Lighthouse Foundation values the work of its volunteers and is committed to providing ongoing learning and development opportunities.

As a small, professionally run organisation, Lighthouse welcomes and relies greatly on volunteer involvement in many areas.



  • Lighthouse homes support

Cooking, gardening, cleaning & maintenance;

  • Mentoring

Mentors are trusted counsellors, advisors, teachers, helpers, employers, trainers and friends;

  • Tutoring

Tutors encourage and motivate learning, help with homework and teach special skills;

  • Administration support

Clerical tasks, mailouts, correspondence, filing and bookkeeping;

  • Community committees

Become an active member of a house Community Committee;

  • Special events & projects

Assist with fundraising events and special projects;

  • Lighthouse friendship garden

Garden maintenance or supervision of young people on the garden program;

  • Health for life program

Art and leisure activities, and holistic health services, such as massage and Reiki.
